Mark Braud’s Basin Street Brass Band: Told You Twice

Old Saw Music is proud to present Told You Twice, an album of OSM founder Mark Braud’s New Orleans brass band compositions, performed by his Basin St. Brass Band.

Braud has been a part of the vibrant New Orleans brass band scene since his days with the Treme Brass Band and the Olympia Brass Band in the 1990s. He co-composed “You Know You Know” for the GRAMMY® Award-winning album Rebirth Brass Band: Rebirth of New Orleans, and he is now here with a fresh album of authentic, down-home music.

These songs range from contemporary funk-brass band songs (think: rowdy New Orleans party music) to old school hymn-style brass band music (think: jazz funerals and pre-1970s kickback scenes).

This all-star cast features: Mark Braud (trumpet, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Harry Connick, Jr.), Kevin Louis (trumpet, Preservation Brass, Duke Ellington Orchestra), GRAMMY® Award-winning Kerry “Fatman” Hunter (snare drum, percussion, The New Orleans Nightcrawlers, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Olympia Brass Band), Ronell Johnson (tuba, trombone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band), Richard Anderson (trombone, Kinfolk Brass Band, Preservation Brass), Gerald French (bass drum, percussion, The Dixie Cups, The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, Charmaine Neville) and Roderick Paulin (tenor saxophone, clarinet, Delfeayo Marsalis’ Uptown Jazz Orchestra, Rebirth Brass Band).
